At about 6:30pm last Wednesday, July 9th, Nancy Sellars and her biking partner was struck by an SUV in a rural road in Racine. Nancy passed away early Thursday morning at Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa. JSONLINE story here She was one of the original TriWisconsin members and a stallworth in the triathlon community in SE Wisconsin. She most recently completed the Race Across America as part of an eight-person team, Badger Bikers, that raised nearly $70,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation through their eight-day ride across the country. Over the years, she has completed four Ironman triathlons, five American Birkebeiner ski races and dozens of 100-mile bike rides. TriWisconsin expresses our sympathys to her friends and family. I am sure she will be missed. We are helping an effort to collect charitable donations that we will forward her family or choice of organization. The Spirit of Racine Triathlon is being held on Saturday July 19th, and Sunday July 20th. HFP Racing has once again provided TriWisconsin members with discounts on the entry fee, and in the past they have provided us with special entry slots even after the race has closed. In return for these perks, the race director is asking TriWisconsin to help provide volunteers. If you are not racing at those events, please consider volunteering. In fact, even if you are racing there are still opportunities to help out. If you would like to volunteer for Racine, please contact Christiana Glenn by e-mail at cglenn21@comcast.net . Volunteers are needed Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. There is a particular need for people to work the run aid stations Sunday and the post-event tear down, but there are other openings as well. |
